Paul English: A Vision For Tech and Startups
I’m supporting John Barros in this year’s Mayoral race because he has a vision for strengthening Boston’s tech industry by leveraging our diversity and building the infrastructure to support its growth and transformation.
I was thrilled when he reached out to me to help devise a tech plan that will make Boston the best and most equitable city in America for tech and startups. Together, and with the help of other startup founders in our city like Vinayak Ranade, we helped create a plan that will diversify the tech sector and strengthen the talent development pipeline for women and students of color. Most importantly to me, as a BPS graduate, this plan will create a pathway for students from BPS to tech careers by building on the State’s Early College Program with Madison Park High School and other participating schools to help students within the IT disciplines graduate with a High School diploma and an Associates Degree. John’s plan is forward-thinking and will create the partnerships we need between City government and our tech sector to uplift and optimize the City’s tech industry.
I respect and admire his deep roots in community activism, and how much he believes in bringing out the energy, the creative ideas, and the talents of Boston’s residents. And now, he has a plan to capitalize on those strengths-- not only as a way to bring back jobs, but also as a way to bring out the ideas and creativity of Bostonians in every neighborhood.
John is running for Mayor on a platform of bold ideas and inclusion. He wants to supercharge the tech industry to create good local jobs and make the industry more diverse. He wants to make Boston a more vibrant place where everyone feels welcome, and honor the city’s history as a global hub for big ideas by ensuring that our sector is at the table when solving our biggest challenges. John understands that tech and startups are important partners in moving our city forward. I am proud to support John Barros for Mayor, and I hope you’ll join me in donating before his next big fundraising deadline tonight at midnight.
John has what it takes to move Boston forward-- in racial justice, in climate action, and in creating a modern economy that works for everyone. I can’t wait to call him our Mayor.
